Movies That Matter
Movies That Matter is sad to announce that The Mug coffee shop, site of many memorable movie evenings, is closing. However, all are invited to attend the October movie, which will be shown at a new location.
The movie is Free For All! (http://freeforall.tv), a brand new major documentary produced by Milwaukee native Holly Mosher, who will join us for the 7 p.m. screening at the Peace Action Center, 1001 E. Keefe Avenue in Milwaukee's Riverwest.
This compelling documentary leads viewers on a journey throughout Ohio, the pivotal swing state that decided the 2004 presidential election. There we discover efforts to systematically block millions of Americans from casting their votes. Along the way, we meet politicians, activists, election officials, journalists, attorneys, party leaders, a lot of cool locals... and Jerry Springer. As we approach the next presidential election, the filmmakers of Free For All! offer an urgent warning to all who cherish democracy: "The 2008 election has already been stolen. We need to swipe it back."
