Inauguration information

The inauguration of Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States,  will take place on January 20, 2008

First things first: You'll need to secure accommodations ASAP. Area hotels are filling fast, and your relatives you have in the D.C. area are probably being inundated with requests.

OK, with that out of the way, there are three main events to the inauguration:

1) The inauguration parade
The President travels from the White House to the Capitol for the swearing in

2) The swearing in
Tickets to the swearing in – the actual inauguration – are distributed by members of Congress.

3) The inauguration balls
Each state has its own inauguration ball, and the President and First Lady pay a visit to each.
