Barrett and Doyle, our Democratic Family members

It was quite a weekend for the Wisconsin – Milwaukee Democratic family. Today we reflect and, along with President Obama, salute two of our wonderful leaders.

We salute Mayor Tom Barrett’s bravery.
We are not surprised that our Mayor’s impulse was to defend innocents, but this act of public service was not via vote or commission, this was a personal response to a woman’s shout in the night for help. Acting just as a concerned citizen, he stepped up to injustice and violence, putting himself in danger. Our thoughts are with Mayor Barrett and his family for a speedy recovery; let us support them however we can. http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/53347442.html

We salute Governor Jim Doyle’s service.
Jim and Jessica Doyle have been serving others and working for justice their entire adult lives. We are very lucky to have a Governor who acts with such integrity, foresight and compassion; naturally we hoped and prepared to fight for another term under his balanced and practical leadership. But with his decision not to run for re-election, we must not only work towards a Democratic successor, but also actively support the important efforts our Governor looks to complete during his term. http://www.wispolitics.com/index.iml?Article=167389

If you have well-wishes or words of support for either Mayor Barrett or Governor Doyle, you may send them to vicechair@milwaukeedems.org or post them as a response to this topic for a compiled message that will be sent to each from the DPMC. Please watch for further communications from us as to how we can best support our Mayor and Governor.

with salutations,
Democratic Party of Milwaukee County
