Dear Wisconsin Democrat,

With much attention being rightly paid right now to the Democratic Presidential contests in various states, we cannot forget that Wisconsin will once again be a battleground as we edge closer to November. No state was closer in the past two presidential contests than Wisconsin, and with no statewide candidates up for reelection this year, combined with our desire to increase our majority in the State Senate and retake the State Assembly, it’s critically important that our party do everything possible early on so that we can be successful this election.

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin is already leading the way and has started to implement an exciting new program that empowers local Democrats and gives Progressives from Marinette to Monroe the ability to easily reach out to their neighbors in their own communities – igniting a powerful grassroots network of activists that will lead us to victory this November.

1) file a declaration of intent by April 4 (download Form)

2) attend the April 6 caucus

Frank Zeidler Annual Memorial Lecture

The Frank Zeidler Annual Memorial Lecture Committee with the help of the Argosy Foundation announces the Committee's inaugural address to be given by Jeremy Scahill, author of the book on Blackwater Company. He will also talk on Private Contracting by the Federal Government. His remarks will be at Centennial Hall, Milwaukee Public Library, Tuesday, March 25 at 7:30PM. Doors open at 7. The lecture is free but donations are earnestly encouraged.

Congratulations to all the Democratic winners yesterday, but particular congratulations to Chris Larson and Patrick Flaherty, both of whom were endorsed by the members of the DPMC in January. Larson won his primary as a candidate for Milwaukee County Supervisor from the 14th District, and Flaherty won his as a candidate for Alderman from Milwaukee’s 3rd District. Both will move on to the non-partisan General Election on April 1, 2008, along with these other candidates endorsed by the DPMC:

• County Executive: Lena Taylor
• City Attorney: Pedro Colon
• District 10 County Supervisor: Annie Woodward
• District 12 County Supervisor: Peggy West
